That rate raised $2,841,704, a portion of which was used to fund operations such as: Police and Fire Department operations, Street Maintenance, Planning & Community Development, Municipal Court, Animal Control operations, Public Library operations, General Administration, and Park operations.

This year, Town of Little Elm is proposing a property tax rate of $0.39902. That rate would raise $3,946,878, which is $1,105,174 more than taxes imposed last year.

There will be two public hearings to consider that increase. The first public hearing will be held on August 25, 2005 at 12:00 PM at Town at Town Hall Council Chambers, 100 West Eldorado Parkway, Little Elm, TX. The second hearing will be held on August 31, 2005 at 6:30 PM at Town Hall Council Chambers, 100 West Eldorado Sunrise in Little Elm Parkway, Little Elm, TX.

In other Little Elm News, a public hearing has been set for Aug. 29 at 6:30 to discuss the proposed school budget and a proposed tax increase. This hearing will be held at the Lakeside Junior High auditorium.

The proposed tax increase is two cents higher than last years rate at $1.84 compared to the previous rate of $1.82 per $100 evaluation. It was noted that this would increase the taxes paid on the average local home by $243 per year, just over $20 per month.
