Recently the Town became aware of some improperly posted speed limit sign on the section of Woodlake Pkwy between Walker Lane and FM 423. For north bound traffic the speed was posted at 35 mph. These signs had not been placed by the Town and were not supported by an engineering speed study or Town Ordinance.
In order to correct this situation the Town removed the 35 mph signs and placed 30 mph signs. 30 mph is the speed for streets and roads in accordance with State Law when the street is not posted or the responsible government agency has not conducted an engineering speed study to establish the speed. The Town has commissioned a speed study by a traffic engineer for the section of Woodlake Pkwy from Walker to FM 423. This will be completed within the next week.
Upon completion the results of the study will be posted for public viewing and the Town will develop a ordinance to establish the speed for Woodlake Pkwy between Walker and FM 423. If you would like additional information on this process, please contact the Public Works Department at 214-975-0471 or publicworks@littleelm.org
