Editorial submission by Curtis Cornelius, Candidate for Town Council, District 3.

Do you have kids in the Little Elm ISD? Do you pay taxes in the Town of Little Elm? This election could very well have a bigger impact than the Presidential election because it affects you locally; the place in which you live and your children go to school.

The upcoming May 9th Local Election will include four items; elections for Mayor and two Council positions, renewal of the ¼ sales tax for street maintenance, three propositions for Capital Improvement Bonds, and 11 Town Charter amendments. On the same day, also voting at Town Hall, LEISD will elect School Board Trustees.

We challenge each one of you to get involved and vote. If you think your vote does not matter, the turn out for past elections was very poor. We have over 20,000 people that reside in Little Elm. Why is it that no more than 500 people typically vote? You have a voice. Use it and VOTE! Check out the links from the past elections and look at the results.

This election is important to the future of our town and our schools. We hope that you will take the time to review the Bond Election Brochure and to attend one of the briefings at Town Hall that will be held on April 15th and April 20th and join us at the Community Center to meet the candidates on April 23rd at 6:30 p.m.
