As part of TxDOT's widening project, Eldorado Parkway will be closed between FM 423 and Legacy Drive in two stages this coming weekend, and westbound traffic will be switched onto the new pavement by Sunday evening. The details of each stage of the process are described below.
Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m.
Eldorado Parkway will be closed between Teel Parkway and Legacy Drive starting at 7 p.m. Friday night, April 3. This section of Eldorado will remain closed throughout the weekend. During the closure, all traffic heading west on Eldorado Parkway will have to turn left or right at Legacy Drive and use Panther Creek Parkway or Main Street as an alternate route. All traffic heading east on Eldorado Parkway will have to turn left or right at Teel Parkway and use Panther Creek Parkway or Main Street as an alternate route. There will be no local access to Eldorado Parkway during the closure, so residents of Griffin Parc will need to enter and exit their neighborhood by using access points on Teel Parkway or Legacy Drive.
Saturday, April 4 at 3 p.m.
Eldorado Parkway will be closed between FM 423 and Teel Parkway starting at approximately 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4. Eldorado Parkway will remain closed between Teel Parkway and Legacy Drive. It is expected that both sections of roadway will reopen by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 5. During this closure, all traffic heading west on Eldorado Parkway will have to turn left or right at Legacy Drive and use Panther Creek Parkway or Main Street as an alternate route. All traffic heading east on Eldorado Parkway will have to turn left or right at FM 423 and use Panther Creek Parkway or Main Street. Teel Parkway will remain open at Eldorado Parkway for north/south traffic, but it will not provide access to Eldorado Parkway. There will be no local access to Eldorado Parkway during the closure, so in addition to the Griffin Parc neighborhood, all of the neighborhoods west of Teel Parkway will need to use alternate routes. Residents of Grayhawk and Northridge Estates will need to enter and exit their neighborhood by using access points on FM 423, Teel Parkway, or Panther Creek Parkway. Residents of Eldorado Fairways and Country Club Ridge will need to enter and exit their neighborhood by using access points on FM 423.
Sunday, April 5 at 5 p.m.
Eldorado Parkway will reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, and all local access will be restored. At that time, westbound traffic on Eldorado Parkway will be switched to the new concrete pavement just west of Legacy Drive. After the switch, Eldorado Parkway will operate as a divided roadway between FM 423 and Legacy Drive, with westbound traffic on the new concrete pavement and eastbound traffic remaining on the original asphalt pavement. Motorists are urged to use caution in the area as people become accustomed to the new traffic pattern.
April 11 - 12
It is currently planned that eastbound traffic on Eldorado Parkway will be switched to the new concrete pavement during the following weekend, April 11-12. At that time, both directions of traffic will be on the new concrete pavement, which will allow TxDOT to remove the original asphalt pavement. No long term closures of Eldorado Parkway are anticipated for that traffic switch.
